aus gro§en melodien und strapazierfhigen elektronischen teppichen gestrickt, ist -love what survives- gewisserma§en die essenz ihres bisherigen schaffens, indem verschiedene gesangsgste und musikerpersnlichkeiten (james blake, micachu, king krule) hinzukommen, um gemeinsam zu experimentieren, formen neu zu denken, dinge auszuradieren, mit pop-berlieferungen zu spielen, alles zusammen wachsen zu lassen. die neuen tracks entstanden gr§tenteils auf zwei vintage-synthesizern (korg ms-20, korg delta), die beide, so die band, diese -punkige, schloddrige qualitt htten, die an robert wyatt erinnert-, die mit ihrem industrial-einschlag und dem unverkennbar direkten sound mount kimbie zu ihrem neuesten sound-update bewegen sollten. der pulsierende motorik-beat der single -blue train lines- zum beispiel schickt king krule direkt auf die berholspur, von wo aus er seine zerklfteten vokalsalven abgeben kann. die offene, ausladende aura der platte ist ferner der tatsache geschuldet, dass sie zwischen london und los angeles entstanden ist, zwei standorten, zwischen denen das duo pendelte, um gemeinsame sessions zu veranstalten und ideen zu verfeinern

an unreleased classic from the vaults emerges with beautiful reshapes by cv313 (recorded and reshaped from 2007-2016) this is where the sound of cv313 was realized, culled from cassette tapes recorded live (1995-2000) with nothing but analog/digital hardware, no computer in sight (excluding our commodore 64 midi sequencer, which is still alive and well today). the radius project has been absent since the final release in 2001, the first 12- appearing in 1996 (limited white label run of 100 copies pressed at acme pressing in canada) after revisiting these works we realized there was truly some magic here. this project was initially sent to rod modell & mike schommer shortly after they launched their brilliant deepchord label in 2001. they were incredibly kind in saying it was the best demo they had ever heard and passed it on to octal records for release, sadly, that didn t materialize and since then these masters have been collecting dust in our cassette rack for nearly 20 years now. we ve spent months doing our best to restore the old tapes from our tascam 688, an 8 track cassette recorder purchased and abused since 1992 and to our ears still sounds quite impressive even by modern standards. (that is of course, if you can get past the tape hiss) we ve had nearly every component replaced and re-calibrated to bring this obsolete machine back to life, it s been a truly nostalgic experience re-visiting these masters.

* back with the heat, chicago native dj jana rush kicks off objects limitedÕs 2017 with her debut album ÔpariahÕ. jana rush received attention for her mind-bending drum acrobatics on last year s Ômpc 7635Õ ep also released by objects ltd. jana started djing aged just 13, releasing her first record on dance mania back in 1996 but having a hiatus from music between 2000 to 2013. with ÔpariahÕ she has created an album rooted in chicago s footwork sound, but with a myriad of influences, such as jungle, acid, soul, jazz and house, developing her sound on from Ômpc 7635Õ. * we kick off with Ômidline shiftÕ whose breathy, clipped erotic vocals intertwine with a pulsing bass and dry 808 rims creating a shimmering robotic effect. moving on, the frantic Ôbeat mazeÕ confuses the mind with white noise rushes and interlocking snares. changing the scene, ÔdivineÕ is sweetly soporific and charming, a beautiful, almost eerie track. the pace picks right back up with Ô??? ??Õ, whose warbling jazz clarinets cut into a juke bounce. the stripped back beats of Ôbreak itÕ give one room to breathe before the croaking bass and distorted acid of Ôno fuks givenÕ. Ôold skoolÕ is exactly what you d expect, its sample syncopated around a feverish rhythm throughout. both Ôrapid fire and Ôacid tech 2Õ are bangers, hitting you deep in that sweet spot. jana brings it back down with ÕcpuÕ s computer noises and sub bass hits. Ôchill modeÕ gives time for reflection after all that fire, but its no ambient track, theres still that chi-town vibe. we finish with Ôfrenetic snareÕ whose amen breaks will have brits thinking of jungle, but it s a different beast altogether
